Get ready to run to your local Kmart. Yes that Kmart. I almost fell out of my seat when I heard about this. First thoughts were oh great another run of the mill android 1.5 tablet…..Wrong. This tablet has surprisingly sweet specs for a good price too. Here is a short spec list for your perusal:
7″ Resistive Touchscreen
Android 2.1
800MHz processor
2GB of Internal Memory
256MB of Ram
WiFi
Android Market Access
How many countless China/Korean brand PMP and MID’s have we seen with sporting android and resistive touchscreens. Of all the stores in the world the best budget offering comes from Kmart. I am excited and baffled at the same time. I just got word that these tablets are not in-store yet and will be arriving sometime next week. According to Engadget.com where this story originated they are giving out rain checks and will notify customers when they arrive. There’s alot of retail stores that need to get on the ball if Kmart can beat you to the punch. I have nothing against Kmart it is just very surprising . If you goto their official page you can see that they already carry an E-Reader from the same company Augen which turns out to be a Kmart-centric type brand. Here is a link to a video review of the product which seems to have a decent build quality as well as being a good low-cost e-reader alternative.
UPDATED: Its Real People here’s proof Augens Site:
UPDATED AGAIN: HERE IS A PHOTOOF THE RAINCHECK I JUST GOT. They are giving them out first come first serve. Also there is a new product they have in stock. Augen makes a 7″ netbook for $99 dollars here are the specs:
7″(800×480) capacitive touchscreen
Android 1.6(I know)
2GB internal memory
128MB of Ram
Google Apps
Google Market
full keyboard & Mouse pad
All in all for less than a c-note its a good buy. The only draws are Android 1.6 and 128MB of Ram. If you don’t mind then call or head on over to your local Kmart and scoop one up.

Resistive, not capacitive.
runs 2.1 OS but wont download any apps from the market.
Seems that they have run out of this device already!

you get what you paid for.
the worse.. there is no support… there is a site.. with information but for nothing..
